Green Camp is a program which offers supervised playful and educational opportunities to students during times that school is not in session. This program offers Green School style fun ventures to students and children of all sorts. In the words of John Hardy, bamboo is the only thing that we can promise our children, so naturally the new activity center for Green Camp was built using bamboo.
The structure consists of raised foundation points, to protect the base of the bamboo columns and to offer a higher roof, under which children can play freely between indoor and outdoor space. A large skylight accentuates the centerline of the building’s roof and ensures that the space is well-lit for any of the activities to take place within.
