The Kindergarten Classroom at Green School is one of Bamboo Pure’s earliest structures, and takes some of its design hints from the “three mountains” structure built by Jorg Stamm and John Hardy for his jewelry factory. The center of the building is held up with a blonde petung bamboo reciprocal tower, accentuated by a skylight at its top ring. The surrounding roof is made from straight long pieces of tali bamboo, draping from the top ring of the tower down to the lidi bundle roofline below, which ambulates around the interior space, held up with irregular petung columns. The room is designed to be open air, and function as an inspiring place to learn for young children in their formative years. For safety and function, we made custom bamboo bookshelves to serve as half walls between the interior space and the exterior.
