The Yoga Pavilion, built for the Four Seasons in Ubud, is a lovely little structure, beautifully floating above an open expanse of rice fields. Unlike the yoga shalas Bamboo Pure has built at Sharma Springs and Nirjhara Resort, this one has a roof lifted above the wood floor all around the structure, giving a less directed view and opening up to the full surroundings. The structure is made of blonde petung, and features a sweet leaf-shaped roof with a shallow pitch and a beautifully subtle roof line along the sides of the shala. The structure of this shala features a heavily structured bamboo-framed raised floor, with extra floor joists to offer more still in the floor for the athletic activities taking place inside. The building’s silhouette does not exert itself too much, as there isn’t much to compete with in the immediate surroundings. The rice fields surrounding work as a blank canvas.
